I was forwarded an e-mail (from a usually reliable person) about the entire
thing.
Basically it goes along the lines of, Microsoft + Gateway got wind of what
Jim Collas / Amiga Inc were planning for the new machine and panicked.
Microsoft threatened Gateway in their usual manner and Gateway were forced
to ask Jim Collas to leave (part of this "deal" of not being fired was for
him to sell all his shares). Now Gateway have control they plan to use the
Amiga name to do nothing but release a set-top box (Hence the
convergence/webtv style patents).
Again tho, this may be a rumour...all the Microsoft/Gateway business seems a
bit much, but who knows?
